MA Voice Studies (Distinction) Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. B Perf Arts, Dip Teaching

Explore your voice and reach your vocal potential.

As a trained teacher and an award winning actor and director, I bring a wealth of experience, on stage and on both sides of the camera, to my voice coaching.

I chose to become a Master in Voice, building on my career as an actor and a teacher of acting.  I am one of the few people in New Zealand to hold an MA in Voice Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where I graduated with Distinction.  I have worked with Cicely BerryKristin LinklaterBarbara HousemanMicha Espinosa, Cynthia Bassham and Saul Kotsubei and Katherine Fitzmaurice.

I intend to keep learning forever, and am half way through the Fitzmaurice Teacher Training programme, based in Los Angeles, and enjoying exploring Knight Thompson Speechwork to enhance my dialect coaching practice

I offer private coaching, as well as group workshops and teach regularly with Miranda Harcourt at RATA Studios in Wellington.

I have taught internationally: in London, at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) – a world-leading school for actors, stage managers, directors, designers, and at East 15, in Singapore at the Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI); as well as teaching extensively in New Zealand.   I was a full time tutor at Te Kura Toi Whakaari o Aotearoa: New Zealand Drama School (Toi Whakaari) for a number of years, and have been a frequent tutor at UCOLWellington Performing Arts Centre (WPAC) and  Victoria University, as a teaching fellow and a guest lecturer.

I am based in New Zealand, with a studio in Wellington, and regular classes in Auckland. I am available to work nationally and internationally.

Perry is an actor’s gift. She combines a thorough knowledge of English and American accents and on-set performer’s ‘nous’ of what needs to get done. Trust her, hire her, she is most definitely worth the money.
— K.C. Kelly, American accent coach, director, actor
Perry has that magic ability to bring out the very best in people. She engenders deep trust and achieves incredible results through the most positive experiences ... we all could do with a little Perry magic in our lives.
— Tabitha Arthur, Director, Lightshade
Thank you for your huge wealth of experience, your personal commitment to your work, to your students, and for being a wonder-ful human. The progress is very exciting, we’re so glad we met you.
— Sharon Callaghan, student's mother
Working with Perry I learnt to find freedom on stage, live freely in my characters and to serve generous energy and sense of ‘play’ to other actors.
— Sonny Tupu, Actor: Shortland Street, Duffy Books
